All students in the class need to have a Computer Science department login in order to access the resources you will need to complete assignments. The department creates one for each registered student automatically, but you do need to visit the department's Technical Support Center (TSC) to activate the account. TSC ours and policies can be found here.
All students are expected to keep up with any assigned readings. Links to readings to can be found on the class readings page.
Welcome to COMP 416, Fall 2010.
Please note that this course is intended for non-majors and CS minors. This course can not be used for credit toward a CS major. CS majors that are interested in this material are encouraged to take COMP 426 - Advanced WWW Programming instead.
COMP 416 is NOT a prerequisite for COMP 426. The terms introduction and advanced in the course titles are supposed to reflect the amount of programming experience that will be expected of the students.
If you are not a CS major, please note that while this course is an introduction to WWW programming, it is NOT intended to be an introduction to programming. Some experience with programming will be expected. A high-school or college-level course in any high-level language will suffice. Similarly, hobbyist or work experience with programming may also be sufficient. If you are uncertain of whether or not you are sufficiently prepared for this course, please send me email so that we can discuss it.
