UNC CS heads to the West Coast
We will be visiting California and Washington from October 16 to October 21, and alumni receptions have been planned in Seattle, Palo Alto, and San Francisco.

Monrose named Kenan Professor
Professor Fabian Monrose was awarded a prestigious Kenan Distinguished Professorship by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.
Baykal, Alterovitz receive Best Paper Award at RSS 2017
Cenk Baykal (B.S. 2015) and professor Ron Alterovitz were awarded Best Paper for their introduction of a motion planning method for tentacle-like medical robots.
Pasunuru, Bansal earn Outstanding Paper Award at ACL 2017
A natural language processing paper submitted by first-year doctoral student Ramakanth Pasunuru and assistant professor Mohit Bansal was recognized in the top 1.5 percent of nearly 1,400 submissions.
Schissler helps make breakthroughs in sound simulation
The College of Arts & Sciences interviewed graduate student Carl Schissler about his research in sound synthesis and propagation.
Full-time UNC student runs a corporation
The Daily Tar Heel profiled sophomore CS major and Linker Logic Technologies CEO Ritwik Pavan, who has been running an app development company since he was 16 years old.
Service through technology
Junior CS major Zareen Farooqui works with the United Way of the Greater Triangle to refurbish used computer equipment and make it available to schools, students and non-profit organizations at a reduced cost.
