Delay and demand (bandwidth)
The delay-guarantee for a connection depends upon the bandwidth it reserves
- To get lower bandwidth, must increase reservation
But application demands may not link bandwidth and delays
- audio: lower bandwidth, but more delay-sensitive than video
Analogy to real-time systems:
- T = (e,p): want lower delays ==> increase (e/p)
- T=(e,d,p): d is the (relative) deadline parameter
