Interoperability of Shared Window Systems

Perhaps the most popular collaborative systems today are shared window systems. Several shared window systems have been developed so far including Shared X at HP and UNC, Concur at UNC and HP, several versions of XTV developed at UNC and ODU, and the IRI system built at ODU. In this project, we will study interoperability of shared window systems. It will have two aspects. First, it will explore interoperation among different forms of shared window systems such as XTV and Shared X. In particular, it will define the core of a shared window system, to which the XTV and IRI systems will connect. Second, it will develop interoperation of shared window systems with other forms of software such as a collaborative toolkit. The software produced by this project will be implemented on top of the collaboration-bus kernel.

This project will give you experience in shared window systems and interoperability. For more information, contact Hussein Abdel-Wahab, Prasun Dewan, or Kevin Jeffay.
