COMP 790-088

RESEARCH TOPICS IN NETWORKING

Instructor: Jasleen Kaur
Location: SN 006
Day/Time: Thursday, 2 - 4 pm

Course Schedule

This course will focus on current research in the design and analysis of network protocols. It will have two main components:

  • Critical Research Reading

Students will be expected to select (either from a suggested list or based on their own interest) research papers related to the theme of the course, and present these in the weekly class meetings. All students will be expected to critically review papers presented in class.

  • Research Project

Students will work individually on research projects during the semester. A list of suggested projects will be provided; however, students are welcome to formulate their own projects (in consultation with the instructor). Project progress will be monitored and guided in weekly meetings over the entire semester. Each project is expected to be pursued aggressively with the intention of producing publication-quality work.

This is a strongly research-oriented course. It assumes that the students have a prior background in networking at the graduate/upper-undergraduate level.

Please contact the instructor if you have questions.
