The Entity-Relationship (ER) model was originally proposed by Peter P. Chen in 1976. Subsequently, different versions of the ER model were used for a variety of database design methods and case tools. These versions consist of slightly different constructs and employ different diagrammatic notations. The ER version we use here is called Extended ER (EER).
