A list of things to do better next time I offer this class.
- More discussion! We had 2 really good discussions on blackboard. Perhaps after every guest speaker or new topic?
- Provide a time for them to talk about the books they read. I planned to do it at the beginning of class but didn’t follow through.
- Plan for public demos from the beginning. Apply for a course enhancement grant to support it.
- Encourage writing papers on projects from the beginning.
- The teams combining grads with undergrads appear to have worked fine. Next time emphasize their mentoring role to the grad students.
- Give more feedback during the course, perhaps some graded assignments relative to their projects.
