Exam Information

Second Midterm Exam

Wed, Oct. 21

In class time, online (in Sakai), 75 mins (probably more like 2hrs to deal with unexpected network issues).
In Sakai look for "Midterm Exam 2 - F20" in the Exams tab.

Exam format:
The exam will be in-class, closed notes, closed book, closed phone, closed smart watches, closed implanted internet-enabled brain chips, closed neighbors and friends, open your brain.
All work will be done in Sakai. It will be pledged work.
I will use zoom class to answer questions and clear up errors and confusions. To this end, attendence in zoom class is required. If I clear up an issue in zoom and you are not there to hear it, you risk losing credit on the exam.

Sample exam questions (solutions)

These are final exams. To use them you will need to select questions that relate to the Midterm 2 topics.
Also, revist the midterm exams given for the First Midterm. Select questions from those that did not apply to Second Midterm topics.

Final Exam

Friday, Nov. 20, at 12:00 noon
( in accord with the UNC Final Exam Schedule )

Given in accordance with the Fall 2020 UNC final exam calendar and final exam policies.
I do not have latitude to move the exam for a few. Plan according to the university schedule.
Exam Format:
The exam will be closed book, closed notes, closed calculators, closed phones, closed watches, closed chips embedded in your brain, closed friends and neighbors... open mind. Your computer or laptop may only be used to access Sakai.
All work will be done in Sakai. It will be pledged.
The exam is comprehensive, though emphasis will be on the material we have studied since the midterm.
You will have enough time online to take the exam. It will be in Sakai, like the two midterms have been. It will be structured like a normal in-person 3 hour exam, and I usually write them to take a well prepared student to take no more than two hours to complete.

Materials to study: (this is a help, not a guarantee)
  • all class material (book, PPT, zoom meetings, etc.)
  • all text readings related to the topics
  • Topics covered
You will find practice questions for the Final Exam topics in the samples I posted for the first two midterms.
